Giovanni Rocco

Giovanni has called Washington DC home since 2017 and joined the Capital Pride Alliance  in 2021. In his professional capacity, he serves as Deputy Press Secretary at the Department of the Interior where he coordinates messaging on a variety of priorities, including climate change, developing a clean energy economy, and conserving America’s lands and waters. Previously, he served as Regional Press Secretary with Biden for President North Carolina where he designed and executed earned media strategies for a variety of media markets. Before joining Biden for President, Giovanni served as Senior Communications Associate at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, crafting messaging for a diverse economic policy portfolio. Prior to that, he was part of the Center for American Progress where he worked with young people to uplift their voices in local and national media. Giovanni immigrated to the United States from Chile with his family at the age of nine. He holds a bachelor’s in media studies and a bachelor’s in political science from Florida State University.
