Washington, DC, February 3, 2017The Capital Pride Alliance announced “Unapologetically Proud” as the Pride 2017 theme last night at the fifth annual Pride Reveal event at SAX Restaurant & Lounge in downtown Washington, DC.

Unapologetically Proud speaks to the protests from which Pride celebrations originated and that remain at the heart of the annual commemorations, even today. Because the accomplishments for which LGBT Americans have fought so hard and struggled so long may now be in peril, these communities are joining together with one another and with other civil rights communities to proclaim very clearly that the rights that have been won are here to stay. “We will never turn back,” said Ryan Bos, Capital Pride Alliance’s Executive Director.

Throughout the United States, Pride 2017 will include demonstrations and marches in addition to celebrations, and serve as a genuine reminder that the very real struggle for equal rights is far from over. “The members of the LGBT community make no apologies for who we are. Our strength is in our diversity and our unified voices. With permission from none and equality for all, we are Unapologetically Proud,” said Bernie Delia, President of the Board of Directors of the Capital Pride Alliance.

Pride in the Nation’s Capital is proudly presented once again by Capital Pride’s staunch ally and National Presenting Sponsor, Hilton, and the famed Washington Hilton will serve as the Official Host Hotel. “We are honored and thrilled to have Hilton returning as our presenting sponsor and we thank them for their generous support and incredible friendship,” said Bos.

Pride 2017 presented by Hilton will take place June 8 – 11, 2017, and include: Thursday, June 8 – Rooftop Pool Party; Friday, June 9,  DC Front Runners Pride Run 5K and the Opening Party; Saturday, June 10, Crack of Noon Pride Brunch, Pride Parade presented by Marriott Rewards, Pride Block Party; and Sunday, June 11, Pride Festival presented by Live! Casino and Pride Concert presented by HOT99.5.
