Capital Pride Alliance Mourns the Victims of Gun Violence

The Capital Pride Alliance mourns the victims of several mass shootings in California, Washington state, and elsewhere over the last week. We extend our deepest condolences to all who have been affected by these senseless acts of violence. In 2023, there have been more mass shootings in the United States — 44 — than there have been days of this month. In the same period, 97 of our fellow citizens have been killed by gun violence — and that does not take into account the gun incidents that have stolen the lives of tens of thousands of people over the last several decades. These events happen too frequently in this country.  The unfettered, ready access to highly efficient assault weapons is a reason this occurs on an almost daily basis in the United States. We know that the solution is to not sit by and do nothing. We call on our political leaders at the national, state, and local levels to find and pass sensible solutions to this crisis.
