Supreme Court Decision Dangerous and Harmful

Today’s Supreme Court decision overturns over fifty years of reproductive freedom in the United States.  This dangerous and harmful decision allows the Government to overrule an individual’s freedom to bodily autonomy and a right to privacy.  These issues are now on the ballot this November and in 2024, making voting along with organizing more important than ever. The decision directly impacts the LGBTQ+ community, which is already at risk of experiencing sexual violence, economic disadvantages, and other barriers to reproductive care.   The prevalence of poverty among bisexual women, transgender people, and LGBTQ+ people of color makes access to contraception even more difficult. They also have less ability to cross state lines for reproductive health care.  Which is why funds for reproductive care are essential to providing this access.  The Capital Pride Alliance urges you to consider contributing to organizations like the DC Abortion Fund, which is working to build a world beyond Roe where access is a reality for all, regardless of race, zip code, or income. The DC Abortion Fund has been leading the way and we urge you to consider supporting them.

The Capital Pride Alliance urges everyone to take action, as this impacts us all.  Please take the time to register to vote, vote in your local elections, if you are able contribute financially, volunteer, organize, and much more. We are all in this together and must never forget that when they come for one of us, they come for all of us.
