Idina Menzel

Menzel will be performing music from her upcoming dance album “Drama Queen,” including the recently released first single “Move.”

Menzel rose to fame for her role as Maureen in the popular Broadway musical Rent. Her career took off when she starred as Broadway’s Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the original Wicked, for which she won the 1982 Tony® Award for Best Actress in a Musical.  She was also the voice of Elsa in Disney’s Oscar® winning Frozen and its sequel.  The film’s song, “Let It Go,” was voiced by Menzel and became an instant international phenomenon, winning the Oscar® for Best Original Song — where Menzel performed it at the ceremony — and the Grammy® Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The track reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Menzel the first artist with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting. She has also appeared in many other feature films, including the Safdie Brothers’ critically acclaimed Uncut Gems, Disney’s Enchanted and its sequel Disenchanted, and Amazon Studios’ smash hit Cinderella, for which she wrote and sang the song “Dream Girl,” which was shortlisted for the Academy Awards’ Best Song category.  This past year she also released the Disney+ documentary Which Way to the Stage?, which followed her along on her journey to headline Madison Square Garden.

Menzel’s prolific recording career includes multiple cast albums and the solo albums: “Still I Can’t Be Still,” “Here,” “I Stand,” “idina,” and “Christmas: A Season of Love,” which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Holiday Albums Chart and landed in the Top 30 on Billboard’s Top 200 charts upon its release.

Hayley Kiyoko

Hayley Kiyoko has become one of the most celebrated pop artists since releasing her debut album EXPECTATIONS, which — according to Rolling Stone, placed her “at the forefront of an unapologetically queer pop movement.” In #20GAYTEEN, the multihyphenate performer was nominated for two VMAs and won “Push Artist Of The Year.” Since her 2015 debut, Hayley has amassed over 1B global streams and over 2.28M YouTube subscribers, accrued over 820M lifetime YouTube views, and sold out numerous venues across the country and abroad. Lauded as one of “The 21st Century’s Most Influential Women Musicians” by NPR, Hayley inspires her community through nuanced storytelling and lyricism, encouraging hope as her resounding message. In 2021, Hayley launched her first-ever gender-inclusive fragrance, Hue, available to order at huebyhayley.com. An audacious scent designed as an expression of liberation, freedom, and self-empowerment, Hue became a 2022 finalist for the Fragrance Foundation’s “Universal Prestige Award” and received praise from Vogue, Allure, NYLON, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and more. The trailblazing pop star (aka “Lesbian Jesus”), who recently graced the covers of both Teen Vogue’s Music issue and Out Magazine’s esteemed Out100 issue, created her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, PANORAMA, alongside frequent collaborators, Pat Morrissey and Kill Dave, and executive producer, Danja (Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears). Receiving widespread acclaim from The New York Times, FADER, Billboard, SPIN, PAPER and more, Kiyoko celebrated her new era on tour across North America alongside Lauv and is set to release her first novel later this year titled Girls Like Girls, based on her breakthrough hit song and viral video.

Rina Sawayama

The devil works hard, but Rina Sawayama works harder. Fresh off the triumph of her UK and US headline tour, which sold out the Roundhouse in London and saw five-star reviews from The Guardian and NME, the newly minted British-Japanese pop star is following up her celebrated debut album SAWAYAMA with LP2, a colossally ambitious and utterly original record that marries intimate storytelling with arena-sized tunes. In between SAWAYAMA landing on over 50 album of the year lists, including the New York Times (#2), The Guardian (#3) and Rolling Stone (#6), a “superstar-in-the-making”(NME) TV performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, starring alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, and sparking a change in the BRITS and Mercury Prize eligibility criteria to ensure non-British nationals like Berwyn could be nominated, you’d be forgiven for wondering when she even sleeps.

But Rina — whose whole raison d’être is bending huge chart influences and blockbuster melodies to her will with precision-tuned songwriting and powerful vocals — is the rare pop artist for whom honesty is never not an option. Making LP2 was a hardwon battle — one that didn’t come easy — and was written during a turbulent period in her life that saw her step back and focus on herself: “A lot of people ignore the symptoms of their emotional pain,” she explains. “It’s when I stopped that I was able to make something meaningful. I’ve worked hard, but I’ve also worked hard on my mental health.”

Writing and recording LP2 coincided with Rina beginning intensive therapy to process a pain from her youth, and these 13 tracks act as a journey through the revelations and growth she experienced. The shimmery orchestral gloss of track Minor Feelings — named after the poet Cathy Park Hong’s book about the marginalisation of the Asian-American experience — belies the fact that “minor feelings are majorly getting me down,” Rina says, quoting from the lyrics. “It sets the thesis for the record — like Dynasty did [on SAWAYAMA].”

In the West London studio of her record label Dirty Hit, she spent a year and a half working on an album that melds chart-topper acts and pop genres — “Garbage and Avril Lavigne and Shania Twain and Pussycat Dolls; and I was listening to a lot of Kacey Musgraves and Dolly [Parton] and Bon Jovi and Aerosmith,” she reels off — with an all-new slate of top-tier producer talent, including Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & the Machine), Stuart Price (Dua Lipa, The Killers), and long-time collaborators Clarence Clarity and Lauren Aquilina.

“I like making weird ideas come to life,” Rina laughs. “It’s easier said than done.” Take Shania Twain-inspired lead single This Hell, for instance: recorded during a marathon two-day recording session with Epworth and written with Aquilina, the glossily addictive pop-meets-country track is about the pansexual Rina spotting a poster informing her that she was destined for hell, combining classic Shania sass (“let’s go girls” line included), glam rock riffs and tongue-in-cheek one-liners that shout out a pantheon of gay icons Britney, Whitney and Princess Di and are destined to be screamed on sticky dancefloors for years to come. “So much about queerness is about queer euphoria and queer humour — I hope that song has that,” Rina says. “Well, if all of us are going to hell, it sounds kind of fun!”

Rina was born in Japan but moved to London as a child and was raised by her single mother — a relationship she lovingly pays tribute to on the soaring second single Catch Me in the Air, which combines the homespun Irish recorder-arranged catchiness of The Corrs and the vocal jumps of Ray of Light-era Madonna, and was debuted on her Dynasty tour to her rapturous fanbase, who call themselves Pixels. “I really wanted to write about this weird relationship with single parents — you do catch each other in the air,” she explains. “When my mum sees my shows now, she can’t believe I’ve been able to made it work… It’s like we’re both flying through the air.”

Clarity and Price share production duties on the track — the former landing the most number of credits and the latter working on over half of the album — and LP2 is a full-throated declaration of Rina’s ambition to level up as a main pop girl with a difference, a route she began tracing with the acclaimed 2017 mini-album RINA and 2020’s SAWAYAMA. “I just wanted to give that pop euphoria,” she says. “I just wanna write big songs that make people feel seen.”

Existing in rarefied spaces as one of the few East Asian faces around — Rina studied politics, psychology and sociology at Cambridge and fronted fashion campaigns as a jobbing model prior to her music career — only served to gird her determination to make her music a broad church that embraces everyone: “I’m always thinking, Who is this song for?” she explains. “Who is the main character? And who is that person speaking to?”

It’s a philosophy underlined in the profoundly moving, Kacey Musgraves-esque LGBTQ country ballad Send My Love to John, written with Aquilina from the perspective of a mother apologising to her queer child for not accepting them. “It’s one of my favourites,” Rina says. The tearjerker is inspired by a queer nonbinary friend who “has a difficult relationship” with their conservative mother, she explains, only for them to be offered the tiniest glimmer of hope when she ended a conversation with a casual “send my love to John,” their current partner.

“They just broke down and said, ‘This means so much to me, because my mum will never apologise,'” Rina recounts playing the song back to them. “I’m so happy I could have provided that relief for them.”

LP2 isn’t just a smorgasbord of monster hits-in-the-waiting — it’s also a bold and honest statement about the singer coming to terms with her own past and the jubilation of turning to the future. It also mirrors Rina’s own mental health journey, beginning with her confronting her past and ending with the ecstasy of liberation from these dark feelings. Not for nothing does the word “euphoria” keep coming up in her discussion of the album: “I’ve designed the tracklist so it takes you on a journey and by the end you feel released by it,” she explains, adding that the album was directly inspired by the insights she gained with her therapist. “Hold the Girl was the first song I wrote for the record at the end of 2020 — I had gone to therapy and had a revelation, so I decided to write the song… That was the start of it, and then I started doing more intense therapy. I was crying before going into the studio and going into the studio to write about it.”

LP2 is a testament to that personal evolution and the joyousness of finally emerging out the other side, thanks to tracks like Frankenstein, another bombastic Epworth banger that sounds like Garbage meets Girls Aloud and features Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong, and the thumping anthemic house of Holy, produced by Irish artist and producer For Those I Love and written with Nate Company, who also worked on standout SAWAYAMA single XS.

“It’s a very adult record because it’s really only fully understood when you become an adult and you can look back on experiences [you had] as a kid,” Rina explains. “It’s about escapism. It’s about looking after yourself, reparenting yourself and finding yourself.”

These are big songs in a big album, choreographing female emotion, despair and hope in a record that pulsates with the message that pop can be more complex, darker and so much more meaningful than your typical girl-meets-boy lyricism. “I’m still very much a maximal writer. I hate silences.” And that’s her down to a tee — in a world that wants women to be quieter, Rina Sawayama is finding new ways to speak up.

Debbie Gibson

Debbie Gibson burst onto the music scene at 16 and instantly became the youngest artist in history to write, produce and perform a number one hit, “Foolish Beat.” She is still the youngest female and has held the world record for more than three decades. Gibson has sold more than 16 million albums and has starred in 17 musicals in 17 years, from Broadway’s Les Miserables to the West End’s Grease.

In 2019, Gibson joined NKOTB on The Mixtape Arena Tour. Later that year, she also served as a celebrity judge on Nickelodeon’s “America’s Most Musical Family.” In 2020, her single “Girls Night Out” soared to No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard and U.K. MusicWeek charts.

2021 was a busy year for Gibson. Her guest starring role in the musical episode of “Lucifer” debuted on Netflix. She completed her “Debbie Gibson & Joey McIntyre: Live from Las Vegas” mini residency at The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas. Gibson released a new duet of “Lost in Your Eyes,” featuring Joey McIntyre, as well as the DJ Tracy Young co-penned “One Step Closer,” with an exclusive remix debuting on the Debbie Gibson Peloton Ride. Her first pop album of original material in 20 years, The Body Remembers, came out on her own label Stargirl Records to rave reviews. The new album promptly shot up to No. 2 on the Apple Pop Sales Charts and achieved one million streams in its first month.

In 2022, Stargirl Records released “One Step Closer Remixes” reaching No. 3 on the Swiss dance charts and landed at No. 8 on the Commercial Pop MusicWeek chart in the UK. Gibson became the new brand ambassador for Dr. Kellyanne’s Bone Broth and appeared on CBS Secret Celebrity Renovation. She embarked on a U.S. solo tour of “The Body Remembers” and celebrated the 35th anniversary of her debut album Out of the Blue with three sold out shows in NYC. Gibson’s first full length holiday album Winterlicious was released, and her holiday tour of the same name kicked off with sold out shows and acclaim that ended with a magical performance on “Good Morning America.”

Gibson shows no signs of slowing down. Most recently, she competed on Criss Angel’s Magic With The Stars, opposite Donny Osmond. This spring, she will release a new single and music video, “Love Don’t Care,” off The Body Remembers. “The Body Remembers Encore” U.S. tour kicks off May 25 in Niagara Falls.

From No. 1 hits and platinum albums to starring roles on stage and screen, Debbie Gibson is a true entertainer with timeless talent and charisma. Follow @DebbieGibson on all social media and more info with tour dates at DebbieGibsonOfficial.com.

Shanice

It has always been about the voice for Shanice. Boasting a five-octave range, which she handles with beauty and ease, Shanice began her career scatting with the late great legendary Ella Fitzgerald for Kentucky Fried Chicken at the tender age of 8 years old. She went on to become the grand champion of Star Search at the ripe age of eleven. Her first album was released when Shanice was fourteen, but it was her worldwide smash, I Love Your Smile, a pop hit in twenty two countries, that brought her a Grammy nomination, Germany’s Golden Lion Award and international stardom! She would become the very first recording artist to perform on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. At a very young age, with her incredible vocal mastery, Shanice would set the standard that many young singers would follow.

With her phenomenal voice and delightful personality, Shanice has won the admiration of many of the music industry’s most respected names. On her closing night, opening for pop group N’ Sync at Atlanta’s Lakeview Amphitheatre, pop icon Justin Timberlake joined her in a duet performance of her memorable ballad “Yesterday”! In addition, she has collaborated with the likes of Kenny Loggins on his Live in the Redwoods Album, Kenny Babyface Edmonds on his MTV unplugged project as well as performing the duet, “If I Never Knew You” in English and Spanish with Latin pop star John Secada, on the multi-platinum Pochahontas soundtrack. Additional collaborations include heart melting renditions of “The Prayer” in both English and Italian, with Josh Groban, live at the Belagio in Las Vegas for a fundraiser given by philanthropist Michael Milken and hotel Impresario Steve Wynn. Adding to her list of accomplishments is her thirty-year record-breaking chart jump in Billboard with her first single, “When I Close My eyes”, from her self-entitled album on LaFace records! Not only has Shanice made history on the recording end, she also became the first African American to star as Eponine in the hit Broadway production of “Les Miserables”, where she was widely received in her incomparable portrayal!

“Every Woman Dreams”, was her first album released independently after having her two children. And thanks to technological advances, Shanice remained widely visible, receiving close to six million hits from her Youtube followers, prompting an article in Huffington post addressing her as a marketing genius!

A true artist at heart and a self-proclaimed, reality show junky, Shanice would then begin developing content for her own reality show. She and her husband, actor Flex Alexander, would star in hit reality show “Flex and Shanice” which ran for three seasons on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Always a fan of beauty and make-up, Shanice recently launched her own lipstick line, “Smile by Shanice” which is vegan and non-toxic. She has recently signed a production deal and is collaboratively working to develop a new reality show. We at “Team Shanice” believe that the best is yet to come!
