CPA Responds to the removal of the Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument

The Capital Pride Alliance is troubled by the continuous attempts to erase the existence of LGBTQ+ people and People of Color by removing symbols of our identities, most recently, the removal of the Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument in New York City and the slavery exhibit in Philadelphia. Actions like these challenge our existence, our stories matter, and must be told in their entirety.

Our resilience has shaped this country, and continued resistance is necessary to prevent our erasure. We have always been a part of the United States’ history and will always be a part of its future.
