Dinner at Del Campo with Victor Albisu

With more than a decade of experience in fine dining and upscale French, American and Latin American restaurants, Chef Victor Albisu is combining his culinary education with his Latin American heritage to bring a unique style of cuisine to his forthcoming restaurant concepts.

His first full-service restaurant, Del Campo, is an upscale South American Grill, in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, D.C. He also owns Taco Bamba, a takeout taqueria in Falls Church, Virgina that reflects his Cuban and Peruvian roots. Taco Bamba is located next door to Plaza Latina, a Latin market owned by his mother.

Dinner at “G by Mike Isabella” with Chef/Owner Mike Isabella! (We apologize, for the need to reschedule this dinner. Stay tuned for more information)

Join Capital Pride for a private dinner with Chef Mike Isabella at “G by Mike Isabella.” The menu will be an Italian Tasting Menu created by Chef Isabella for our event. Chef will introduce each course and walk you through the culinary experience.

In 2012, Chef Isabella was named FOOD & WINE magazine’s The People’s Best New Chef Mid-Atlantic. Outside the kitchen, Chef Isabella appeared on Season Six of Top Chef and he was the runner-up on Top Chef All-Stars. He is also a member of the American Chef Corps, a network of chefs from across the United States who serve as resources to the Department of State.

Before opening Graffiato, Chef Isabella was the executive chef of José Andrés’ Zaytinya. During his three-year tenure, Chef Isabella generated accolades and national attention for Washington, D.C.’s Mediterranean powerhouse restaurant.

Sapore – Olive Oil Tasting with Wine

This event will provide “extensive tastings”, meaning you will receive foods that pair well with the individual oils and vinegars, in addition to the bread, jams, etc. . 

We explain what “extra virgin” means, “first cold press”, how olives are harvested and why olive oil needs to be consumed fresh; how to taste and what qualities you should be looking for. We can also explain the differences between balsamics, fruit and wine vinegars.

Chef Art Smith, a member of the LGBTA community, loves the idea of bringing people together through food. It’s partly what made him the success he is today. He is the executive chef and co-owner of Art and Soul located near Union Station in NW DC.

Smith has received the culinary profession’s highest awards and has cooked for some of the world’s most famous celebrities. In 1997, Smith became the personal, day-to-day chef to Oprah Winfrey, a position that lasted ten years. Smith now coordinates and cooks for special events all around the world.

Most recently Smith has made several television appearances including ABC’s Lady Gaga Thanksgiving Special, and Top Chef and returned to Top Chef Masters (for the second time), where he quickly became an audience favorite.

Chef Smith will prepare a three course dinner paired with delicious red wine provided by Boxwood Winery. 

This event is limited to fifty guests. Purchase of a ticket includes three course dinner paired with wine and meet and greet with Chef Smith.

Join us for our first Taste of Pride event of 2014.  Oysters 101 will be a fun-filled evening where guests will be guided through a flight of oysters paired with champagne. 

This tasting will include Bay oysters with very different and unique tastes and salinity.  Tasting will be led by a professional shucker with a quick demo on how to shuck your own fresh oysters. 

Tasting will take place at Union Market which is a foodie paradise. Union Market is an indoor market featuring 40 local artisans and known as the culinary epicenter of the Capital City. The venue serves as an incubator space for new food concepts as well as retail and wholesale space.

Most East Coast oysters are of the same species, but taste different depending on origin and season. Not only are oysters delicious and nutritious, they are vital to a healthy aquatic ecosystem too.
