The 40th Annual Celebration of Pride In The Nation’s Capital culminates with the Pride Festival & Concert on Sunday, June 14, 2015.   The Pride Festival & Concert continues along the historic Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd and 7th Streets. The US Capitol has served as the iconic backdrop to the Capitol Stage for hundreds of performances from local and national entertainers, politicians, and activists for 18 years. Since its inception, the Festival has grown and evolved, and this year is no exception.  Festival exhibit hours are 12pm – 7pm with the Concert to continue on the Capitol Main Stage till 9:00 PM.

The Festival is DC’s largest annual one-day event with over 200,000 visitors, almost 300 sponsor & vendor exhibits, three stages, two beverage gardens, a family area, and numerous food vendors offering a huge selection of various cuisines. The Festival has continuously sold out of vendor spaces for 10+ years due to the overwhelming support of our sponsors, local businesses and organizations that want to reach our community.

Please consider supporting the festival with either a $10-$20 donation as you enter the festival; or, volunteer your time that day.  200+ volunteers (click here to volunteer) are needed to ensure a great and safe experience for all – and we need your help.  It wouldn’t be Capital Pride without our amazing volunteers, sponsors, community partners and exhibiting organizations that line Pennsylvania Avenue.

Festival Exhibitor & Vendor Registration (Available soon!)

Returning exhibitors and vendors will be able to begin to register on December 1, 2014.  New participants will be able to register beginning January 1, 2015.

The Future is Here: Family and Educational Activity Area & Fun Zone

Are you an experienced museum educator, teacher, or educator-in-training looking to share your talents? Do you enjoy working with children and families? If so, consider volunteering for the National LGBT Museum’s and Capital Pride’s “The Future is Here” family and educational activity areas at this year’s Capital Pride Street Festival on June 8th.

For the first time ever, these two organizations are partnering to produce two engaging, educational family areas where participants can read stories, make memories, create artistic keepsakes, jump around in a moon bounce, cool off on a water slide, relax, and spend quality time with family.

Volunteers will facilitate activities, answer questions, and receive a commemorative, souvenir shirt. Refreshments will also be provided.

Sign-up today for a two-hour shift here or contact Tim Gold at tsgold@velvetfoundation.org.

The fun zone will also host the 30’ tall inflatable water slide that provides necessary relief to the summer heat.  The water slide combined with misting tents provided by DC Water are part of an effort from Capital Pride to continue to grow the festival in a creative and comfortable setting.  The family area will also host food vendors, face painters, and covered tables and chairs.

Greening Pride

The Capital Pride Green Initiative was established in 2008 to encourage and support sustainability.  Over the years, our events have become increasingly sustainably conscious by providing recycling facilities at events and recognizing vendors who have committed to sustainable practices.  Each year, thousands of pounds of recyclables are collected.  The “Green Vendor” program publicly recognizes vendors who make a commitment to avoid wasteful practices while actively preserving and protecting our natural resources.  Last year, recycling expanded to the Capital Pride Parade, with a contingent walking the route and collecting recyclable materials from the crowd.  This will be one of the greenest Pride celebrations in the country.  Going forward, we plan to introduce composting and require vendor use of 100% recyclable and/or compostable consumable requirement disposable materials, as well as identify ways to make Capital Pride more carbon neutral.

Pets

The festival is family friendly, however due to large crowds and very hot asphalt, we recommend that 4-legged family members (pets) stay at home.

Exhibit at the Pride Festival

Registration for exhibitors is available at www.capitalpride.org/register.   The festival is expected to sell out before Memorial Day.

Parking At The Festival

To make parking for the festival easy and stress free, we have partnered with Parking Panda, the nationwide leader in online parking reservations, to allow visitors to purchase guaranteed parking near the festival.

Once purchased, parking for the Capital Pride Festival is 100% guaranteed even if the location otherwise fills up. Simply present your purchase confirmation at the selected location, and this serves as your payment with no additional payments or fees ever.

Inventory is limited and garages will fill up before the parade, so it is strongly recommended that you purchase Parking Passes for parade day if driving.
