THE CAPITAL PRIDE ALLIANCE CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH BLOWOUT PARTY

Washington, D.C., November 20, 2018 – The Capital Pride Alliance kicks off their 10th anniversary as an organization with The Red Party, on Saturday, December 1, 2018, 9:00 pm to 3:00 am, at Echo Stage (2135 Queens Chapel Rd. NE). Ten years ago in 2008, a group of Pride volunteers, on behalf of the community, established The Capital Pride Alliance to continue the work that Whitman-Walker Health had undertaken several years earlier to produce Capital Trans Pride each May and the Capital Pride Celebration each June.

The Red Party will include dancing to the club music of DJs Tezrah, Wess, and Tracy Young, and special performances throughout the night by: TV (Glee) and Broadway performer Alex Newell; breakout drag performer and TV celebrity (RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag U) Jujubee; veteran female impersonator and pageant winner Kristina Kelly; and burlesque host, plus Pretty Boi Drag co-producer, Pretty Rik E.

“The Capital Pride Alliance was founded for the community to work together to produce Pride events in June and throughout the year,” said Ryan Bos, Executive Director of the Capital Pride Alliance. “The Red Party will celebrate 10 years of joining of forces and resources, and commemorate Capital Pride’s commitment to the advances made by the LGBTQ+ movement, as well as recognize the important work that yet remains.”

Ticket are $15.00 and can be purchased on the Capital Pride Alliance website and the Echo Stage website, with 100% of the ticket sales supporting The Capital Pride Legacy Fund.

“As we embark on celebrating 10 years of The Capital Pride Alliance, we reflect on the growth from 2008 to 2018, and how Pride experiences have expanded from one weekend in June to an array of Pride 365 events throughout the year with our many partners,” said Ashley Smith, President of the Board of Directors of the Capital Pride Alliance. “We are very grateful to be able to host the Pride Celebration and Capital Trans Pride in the Nation’s Capital, and for the opportunity to work with our partners on all the many Pride events. In addition, we want to continue our cooperative endeavors to ensure inclusivity throughout our entire community. The Capital Pride Alliance looks forward to serving this community for many years to come.”
