Singers Keri Hilson, Kim Petras, and Asia O’Hara Added to Roster for Capital Pride Concert

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and actress Keri Hilson, Kim Petras, and RuPaul Drag Race celebrity Asia O’Hara, have joined the roster of talent for the Capital Pride Concert presented by HOT 99.5/Pride Radio and brought to you by American Airlines and Billboard. The Capital Pride Concert will be held on Sunday, June 10, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on America’s Main Street, Pennsylvania Ave. at 3rd St., simultaneously with the Capital Pride Festival presented by Live! Casino Hotel, which begins at 12:00 noon.

Georgia native Keri Hilson’s 2009 debut studio album, In a Perfect World , reached number four on the US Billboard 200 chart, and inspired the single “Pretty Girl Rock,” to go platinum. Hilson’s styles that range from R&B, to hip hop, and pop, and her critically acclaimed hit song “No Boys Allowed,” speaks to women’s empowerment, a theme frequently touched upon by Hilson, in addition to the themes of womanhood and love. She has been recognized with several awards, including a BET Award, MOBO Award, NAACP Image Award and two Soul Train Music Awards. In 2012, Hilson made her acting debut in the romantic comedy film, Think Like a Man.

Kim Petras, the side-bun sporting German-born, Los Angeles based pop singer has a voice and style described as somewhere between 80s Euro disco and 90s American pop. Influenced by an array of singers as diverse as Britney Spears, Boy George, and Judy Garland, Petras’ powerful song storylines share intimate and lovelorn themes. Her August 2017 debut single “I Don’t Want It All,” was a commercial success, and reached the top of Spotify’s Global Viral 50 chart. Petras is breaking boundaries in the LGBTQ community by making headlines as the youngest person to undergo gender reassignment surgery at age 16.

Asia O’Hara was the breakout competitor on season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race where she put her costume design and dance instructor experience to great use. Born in Texas, O’Hara has won several national titles in drag pageantry including Miss Gay America in 2016. This title is known as the “Symbol of Excellence” of female impersonation and the responsibilities included touring, community service, and projecting an overall positive image for the LGBTQ community.

“The diversity of talent at this year’s concert will be unparalleled and inspiring. With the addition of Keri Hilson, Kim Petras, and Asia O’Hara to the already robust roster of performers, we’re expecting the largest turnout in our over 43-year history, and we expect this to be the best Capital Pride Concert ever,” said Ryan Bos, Executive Director of the Capital Pride Alliance.

The annual Capital Pride Concert, along with the Festival, draws over 275,000 attendees, and takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue, where it uses as its backdrop one of the most iconic buildings in the world, the United States Capitol. There are three music stages, more than 200 exhibitors, beverage gardens, a family zone, and a variety of food options.
