“Holiday Heatwave” Finale For 40th Annual Celebration Of Pride In The Nation's Capital

Event to Mark End of 2015 Celebration, Start of Capital Pride Grant Program

Washington, DC – “Holiday Heatwave,” the final event of the 40th Celebration of Pride in the Nation’s Capital, will take place on Tuesday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Human Rights Campaign building, 1640 Rhode Island Ave., NW.

Holiday Heatwave” will be a true feast for the senses with delicious food, drinks, and music! This special evening will be an opportunity to acknowledge the amazing work of our LGBTA community, Capital Pride Partners, the support provided by our sponsors, and the opportunity to look ahead with the launch of the Capital Pride Grant program.

“December is a time of reflection on the past and anticipation for the future,” said Bernie Delia, President of the Board of Directors of the Capital Pride Alliance. “‘Holiday Heatwave’ will give us a chance to look back at the tremendous year that Capital Pride and the LGBTA community enjoyed. But we are also able to look ahead to 2016 with the launch of our new Capital Pride Grant program for local LGBTA organizations.”

“Our new grant program is geared to helping local organizations fund specific programs, activities, and events,” said Ryan Bos, Executive Director of the Capital Pride Alliance. “We know that many local LGBTA organizations often struggle financially to offer programs or fulfill their missions. As part of our commitment to our community, our grant program will provide opportunities for funding to these organizations. We’re proud to launch this new service for our community.”

“Holiday Heatwave” coincides with World AIDS Day and Giving Tuesday, two important community events. We encourage our supporters to attend the Whitman-Walker Health World AIDS Day observation at 6:00 p.m. at 1525 14th Street, NW. We also encourage our supporters to donate to Capital Pride Alliance or any of our Pride Partners on this important day of giving.

“Holiday Heatwave” is sponsored by Wells Fargo, Amtrak, Stoli, Heineken, Yours Truly Lighting & Decor, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Main Event Caterers, Woodlands Vegan Bistro, Luke’s Lobster, and Crave Bethesda.
